OSRS Complete P2P Fishing Guide 1-99
Train P2P Fishing 1-99 in OSRS with the fastest, AFK, and most profitable methods. Real XP rates, P2P routes, gear, and honest tips from a veteran.
Leechfin Fishing is one of the best and most effective additions to Old School RuneScape, especially for players who want the highest Fishing XP rates without needing to learn tick manipulation. Introduced with The Blood Moon Rises update on 30 June 2026, this method completely changed how I train Fishing. Find Blood Moon Rises challenging? Let our expert Quest Masters take care of it for you.
After spending several hours testing it myself, I can confidently say it's now my favourite way to train the skill. And I’m dead serious: it's such an effective and engaging method that once you start it, you won’t get bored, and XP rates will also reach the moon, and there isn’t any tick manipulation in this method.
What I like most about Leechfin Fishing is that it feels much more engaging than traditional methods, yet it's easy to learn. Once you understand how the fishing waves work, maintaining high XP rates becomes surprisingly consistent. It's kinda similar to the Guitar Hero game we used to play back then. It's a really good method for training Fishing; I would say it's the best Fishing Method ever introduced in the History of OSRS. I’ll be sharing its entire method, requirements, the pathway to reach the fishing spots, and much more.

Let's get into it!
Before you can start fishing Leechfin, you'll need to have completed the following requirements:
You can boost your Fishing Level to 78 and start Leechfishing, as long as you don't disengage from the Fishing Spot.

Getting there is fairly straightforward once you've completed the Blood Moon Rises quest.
You need to teleport to Castle Drakan using the Draken Medallion as shown in the image below.

Inside the Castle Draken, you'll find a Blood Portal. Entering the portal teleports you directly to Sangvesti, a town located within Vampyrium.
If you've unlocked the shortcut, reaching the Leechfin fishing spots only takes a few seconds.
Note: The shortcut is unlocked by rescuing the Aranei Scout from a group of Blood Leeches located south of the Apsul Hunting Grounds. After rescuing the scout, they'll open a path to the eastern side of Sangvesti, providing a much quicker route to the Leechfin pools while allowing you to avoid most of the dangerous monsters along the way. If you don’t have unlocked the shortcut, then follow these steps:

From there, the Leechfin pools are located south of the Ruined Village in Vampyrium, just east of Sangesti, until you reach the Leechfin fishing spots. The following is the Pathway to the Fishing Spots.

The following is the route to the Fishing spots in Sangvesti. The Green Line passes through the Agility shortcut, while the Blue Line does not. So, you can get through a little bit more quickly with the Agility shortcut.

While testing this method, I also noticed an Agility shortcut that slightly shortens the run. At the time of writing, the required Agility level hasn't been confirmed yet, but it's worth using once you unlock it since every trip becomes a little quicker.
After extensive testing of Leechfin Fishing, the first thing that stood out to me was its unique wave mechanic. Instead of fish constantly appearing at the fishing spot, they arrive in waves. During each wave, you can continuously catch Leechfin without moving, followed by a brief 2-3-second pause before the next wave begins.
That brief downtime is what makes this method so efficient. Rather than dropping your entire inventory between waves, the most efficient approach is to drop fish during the current wave to free up inventory space. This leaves enough time to cut the remaining 6-7 Leechfin during the downtime before the next wave begins. With a little practice, the rhythm becomes second nature, allowing you to maintain maximum Fishing XP while also gaining over 25,000 Cooking XP per hour and collecting 400+ Blood Sacs per hour.
Using this strategy, I consistently achieved around 100K Fishing XP per hour at level 82 without tick manipulation. Based on my testing, this is currently the fastest non-tick-manipulation Fishing method in OSRS, while also providing valuable Cooking XP and Blood Sacs at no cost to your Fishing experience.
If your only goal is reaching level 99 Fishing as quickly as possible, this is the method I'd recommend!
Simply catch Leechfin throughout each wave and drop every inventory during the short gap before the next wave begins. Because the downtime naturally lines up with inventory management, the method feels much smoother than traditional power-fishing methods. Use the “Menu Entry Swapper” or “Left Click Dropper“ plugins to drop the inventory quickly.

You can have a better understanding of its mechanism by the following GIF.

Personally, this is the method I've been using the most since it requires very little setup and the XP rates are excellent. You can check the following XP rates that I achieved here.

If you don't mind sacrificing some experience for a small profit, you can process your catches instead of dropping them.
Using a knife, you can cut Leechfin into Blood Sacs. On average, one Blood Sac is produced for every 3.5 Leechfin cut, though the exact amount varies due to the recipe's randomness. Each Leechfin also grants 20 Cooking XP, making this method a great way to train both skills at once. Blood Sacs can then be processed into Blood Vials, which are tradeable on the Grand Exchange.
During my testing, I averaged approximately:

While this isn't a major revenue driver, I appreciate having the option. If I'm not in a rush for maximum XP, earning a little GP while training feels much more rewarding than simply dropping every fish.
If you want to maximise your Fishing XP while still earning Blood Sacs, this hybrid method offers the best of both worlds. Instead of dropping every Leechfin or cutting every catch, you'll drop part of your inventory during the downtime between waves, leaving enough space to process the remaining fish before the next cycle.
The gap between Leechfin waves is long enough to cut approximately 6-7 Leechfin before the next wave begins. By repeating this each cycle, you maintain the same Fishing XP rate as the dropping method while also gaining over 20K-25K Cooking XP per hour and collecting 400+ Blood Sacs per hour.
However, this method requires more focus, as you have to maintain both cutting and dropping simultaneously. If this doesn’t suit you, then you can choose either the dropping-only method or the cutting method above.
You can equip the Angler’s Outfit, which still provides its standard 2.5% Fishing XP bonus, making it the best outfit for all three methods. The following is my gear setup for this method.

As long as you have completed the required quest and have a Big Fishing Net, you're ready to start.
It depends on your goal:
No. The Fish Barrel cannot store Leechfin, so you'll need to manage your inventory manually using one of the methods described above.
No. Rada's Blessing does not provide its additional catch effect while fishing Leechfin.
Certainly Not, but it's highly recommended. The Angler's Outfit provides a 2.5% bonus to Fishing XP, making it the best outfit for all three training methods.
Not if your primary goal is GP. While you can earn around 95K–100K GP/hr by processing Blood Sacs into Blood Vials, the real strength of Leechfin Fishing is its excellent experience rates. The profit is simply a nice bonus while training.
You'll need to rescue the Aranei Scout from a group of Blood Leeches south of the Apsul Hunting Grounds. Once rescued, the scout opens a shortcut to the eastern side of Sangvesti, significantly reducing the travel time to the Leechfin fishing pools.
No, Leechfishing is a highly intensive method, and you need to pay close attention and focus during catching, dropping and cutting them into Blood Sacs.
After spending time testing this method myself, I'd absolutely recommend it to anyone training in fishing.
Reaching 100K XP per hour without tick manipulation is something we've never really had before, and the wave mechanic makes the training surprisingly enjoyable instead of repetitive. It rewards paying attention without demanding constant high-intensity clicking, which I think strikes a great balance.
If your priority is experience, dropping the fish is definitely the way to go. On the other hand, if you'd rather make a little money while you train, converting your catches into Blood Sacs offers a nice alternative with only a moderate reduction in XP.
Overall, I think Leechfin Fishing has earned a place among the best Fishing training methods in OSRS. Whether you're chasing level 99 or simply looking for a fresh way to train after The Blood Moon Rises update, it's a method that's well worth trying.
