OSRS Best Weapons for Strength Training
Discover the best OSRS weapons for Strength training. Compare DPS, attack speed, Strength bonuses, requirements, and the top weapons for training.
Choosing the right Slayer master in OSRS can make a huge difference to your Slayer XP per hour, GP per hour and Slayer points. Each master has a different task list, weighting and set of requirements, so just using the highest-level master available isn't always the best option.
Gamer note: It is also important to optimize your 10th/50th/100th/250th/1000th task streaks at the correct masters to optimize your points. I will explain this a little further down in the guide.
So, who should you actually use?
Here is the quick version:
| Slayer Master | Best For | Requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Duradel/Kuradal | Best overall / XP | 100 Combat + 50 Slayer (or 99 slayer) |
| Mortimer | Superior monsters / Heart grind | 100 Combat + 70 Slayer (or 99 slayer) |
| Konar | Hybrid GP / Points | 75 Combat |
| Krystilia | Hybrid Slayer points & XP/GP | Complete 1 Slayer task |
| Nieve/Steve | Pre-Duradel XP & Tzhaar tasks | 85 Combat |
| Turael | Slayer point boosting | None |
If your only goal is 99 Slayer as quickly as possible, Duradel/Kuradal is still the master I would recommend.
If your priority is Slayer points, go Wilderness with Krystilia for some XP/GP along the way, or Turael point boost if you solely want points.
If you're interested in money, Konar and Duradel are both excellent choices, with Krystilia becoming competitive if you're comfortable with Wilderness content.
And if you're chasing the Imbued Heart or Superior uniques, Mortimer is the new go-to.
Before we dive into the Slayer masters, each master gives different point values per task. Instead of listing these individually in each section, I will provide you with a handy table right here that you can always refer back to:
(Any point values listed in parentheses are after completing their respective diary)
| Slayer Master | Points per task | Points per 10th | Points per 50th | Points per 100th | Points per 250th | Points per 1,000th |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Turael / Aya / Spria | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| Mazchna / Achtryn | 6 | 30 | 90 | 150 | 210 | 300 |
| Vannaka | 8 | 40 | 120 | 200 | 280 | 400 |
| Chaeldar | 10 | 50 | 150 | 250 | 350 | 500 |
| Nieve / Steve | 12 (15) | 60 (75) | 180 (225) | 300 (375) | 420 (525) | 600 (750) |
| Duradel / Kuradal | 15 | 75 | 225 | 375 | 525 | 750 |
| Konar quo Maten | 18 (20) | 90 (100) | 270 (300) | 450 (500) | 630 (700) | 900 (1000) |
| Krystilia | 25 | 125 | 375 | 625 | 875 | 1,250 |
| Mortimer | 0-40 | 0-40 | 0-40 | 0-40 | 0-40 | 0-40 |
Requirements: 100 Combat and 50 Slayer (or 99 Slayer) plus access to Shilo Village.
If you ask most experienced players which Slayer master they use when they only want to smash through Slayer levels, the answer is going to be Duradel/Kuradal.
Duradel has one of the strongest task pools in the game, and his task weights are well suited to efficient Slayer training. The official Slayer training resources continue to list Duradel as the best Slayer master for fastest experience, although Nieve/Steve can sometimes suit particular task lists and playstyles better.
The important thing here is that Slayer XP isn't always about completing the biggest tasks possible. You want to spend as much of your time as possible doing high-XP tasks and as little time as possible doing bad ones.
Duradel can assign several of the game's best burst, barrage, cannon and bossing tasks. His task list includes high-weight assignments such as Abyssal Demons, Nechryaels, Smoke Devils, Dust Devils and Araxytes, depending on your Slayer level and unlocks.
All of these tasks can be either barraged or cannoned with a venator bow for very high XP/h.
The real trick is building a good Duradel block list.
Don't block tasks because someone on Reddit told you to. Your block list should depend on whether you're prioritising XP, GP, bosses or something else. The easiest way to decide your block list is refer to the task weightings list, then block the tasks that have the highest chance of being assigned that you don’t want to do.
The screenshots below show you how to find out your most common tasks from the Slayer Rewards interface at each master:

A generic Duradel Blocklist (for EXP) usually looks like this (although they are ever changing with metas):
Block 1) Metal Dragons
Block 2) Cave Kraken
Block 3) Black Demons
Block 4) Drakes
Block 5) Suqahs
Block 6) Wyrms
Block 7) Aberrant Spectres
Yes, if your main goal is XP.
For a serious 99 Slayer grind, I'd make Duradel/Kuradel your default master and use skips aggressively to remove the tasks that don't fit your XP strategy.
Best for:
Slayer XP, bossing, general Slayer, long-term 99 Slayer grinds.
Mortimer is the big new addition to Slayer in 2026, and he deserves his own section because he doesn't work like the traditional masters.
He requires 100 Combat and 70 Slayer, or 99 Slayer, and is found in Wyrmscraig Cavern which requires 62 Sailing and completion of the ‘Fallen from Grace’ Quest . His task list is built around monsters that have Superior variants.
Rather than giving you one task and sending you on your way, Mortimer gives you a choice between tasks. Starting with two options, and after 50 tasks, you unlock a third choice for every new task too.
This makes him more flexible than the traditional Slayer system.
Mortimer's tasks come with Mortifiers, which can modify things such as:
Slayer XP
Task quantity
Slayer points
Clue scroll rates
Superior unique drop rates
Task selection
That makes Mortimer more attractive than he was in the initial design. After you unlock all of your tasks, your task selection page will look something like this:

Mortimer is designed around Superior monsters and the rare-drop grind, rather than simply being the fastest possible route to 99 Slayer.
Recent player discussion has continued to put Duradel/Kuradel ahead for pure Slayer XP, while Mortimer's big advantage is the ability to improve your chances at Superior-related rewards.
So if you're asking:
"What's the fastest way to 99 Slayer?"
I'd still pick Duradel/Kuradel.
If you're asking:
"What's the best Slayer master for hunting an Imbued Heart?"
Mortimer becomes much more interesting.
This is where Mortimer's design comes together.
His Superior-focused task pool and Superior Unique modifier are useful for players who are going far beyond just reaching 99 Slayer and are hunting rare Superior uniques.
Recent simulations and community testing suggest Mortimer can reduce the expected time involved in the Imbued Heart grind once his important modifiers are unlocked.
That doesn't make him the best master for every player, though.
If you don't care about the Imbued Heart, Eternal Gem or other Superior-related rewards, you're giving up some of Duradel's excellent traditional task weighting by choosing Mortimer.
Best for:
Imbued Heart, Superior uniques, Superior-focused Slayer, flexible task selection
Requirement: 75 Combat.
Konar is one of the most popular Slayer masters in the game, and there's a very good reason for that.
Unlike the other major Slayer masters, Konar doesn't just tell you what to kill. She also tells you where to kill it.
That can be either useful or incredibly annoying.
For example, you might get assigned Dust Devils, but instead of going wherever you want, Konar can force you into a specific location.
That's the downside.
The upside?
Brimstone Keys.
Every monster killed on a Konar task has a chance of dropping a Brimstone Key, which can be opened at the Brimstone Chest in Mount Karuulm for additional loot.
This extra loot is what makes Konar such an attractive money-making master.
She's one of the best, but there is an important catch.
A Konar task can look great on paper because of Brimstone Keys, but the location restriction can destroy your XP per hour and sometimes your GP per hour too.
The OSRS community makes this exact point: Konar's keys add money, but being forced into an inefficient location can offset some of that advantage.
And then there's Hydra.
Konar is one of two Slayer masters who can assign Alchemical Hydra (along with Mortimer), making her attractive once you reach 95 Slayer. If you're looking for one of the best Slayer bosses for GP, this alone can make Konar worth using.
I'd recommend Konar if:
You care about GP
You want Brimstone Keys
You want Alchemical Hydra tasks
You want more Slayer points
You’re looking for a Hybrid of GP/points
If you're purely chasing XP, though, I'd stick with Duradel.
Best for:
GP, Brimstone Keys, Hydra, milestone tasks and Slayer points
If your goal is Slayer points while gaining XP, Krystilia wins. You will also gain a lot of GP from wilderness slayer specific drops - and even more GP if you’re comfortable doing wilderness bosses & revenants on task.
If you’re happy being in the wilderness, this is the best hybrid slayer master hands down and it's not even close.
Krystilia gives 25 Slayer points for every completed task, which is higher than every other Slayer master. Her milestone rewards are also the highest in the game.
Krystilia is a Wilderness Slayer master.
Every task has to be completed in the Wilderness, meaning you're dealing with:
PKers
More dangerous locations
Potential deaths
Less convenient banking
Potentially slower tasks
The upside is that Wilderness Slayer also provides access to Larran's Keys, which can add additional loot to your tasks. Wilderness bosses and Revenant-related tasks can also provide excellent GP.
This is why Krystilia can be a very strong GP master as well.
If you're willing to barrage/cannon the appropriate tasks and have a good Wilderness block list, the XP can be strong. I think people sleep on this slayer master quite a lot. A lot of tasks can net you 80k+ slayer EXP/h.
But if you spend half your task world hopping, escaping PKers or recovering from deaths, your theoretical XP/hour isn't worth much.
This can depend a lot on your timezone, your access to total level worlds, combat level & lots of other variables.
I'd recommend her if you:
Need a lot of Slayer points
Want to unlock/block several tasks quickly
Are comfortable in the Wilderness
Don't mind risking some gear
Want to combine Slayer with Wilderness money-making
If you're a newer player who hates PvP, though, don't force yourself into Wilderness Slayer. It’s an amazing option if you are happy to spend hours in a PvP area - but if it’s going to make you not enjoy/avoid the grind then it's worth choosing somewhere else!
Best for:
Slayer points, Wilderness GP, Larran's Keys and players comfortable with PvP risk
Requirement: 85 Combat.
Nieve is the stepping stone between Konar and Duradel.
She's not the absolute best master once you can use Duradel, but she's still extremely good. I won’t go into too much detail, but will give you a rundown.
Her task list is designed around high-level tasks similar to Duradel, and she can assign excellent tasks such as Abyssal Demons, Nechryaels, Smoke Devils and other strong XP assignments, depending on your unlocks and Slayer level.
Nieve also has an important niche for players looking to obtain Jad or TzTok-Jad tasks, making her useful if you're planning to grind the Fight Caves or Inferno-related Slayer content.
Gamer note: The Elite Western Provinces Diary increases her task points to match Duradel's rewards.
If you have access to Duradel, I'd choose Duradel for pure efficiency.
That being said, a well-designed Nieve block list can still produce excellent XP rates, and some players prefer her task pool.
So don't feel like you're playing the game incorrectly if you enjoy Nieve more.
Best for:
Fast XP before Duradel, Jad/Inferno-related tasks and high-level Slayer
Requirement: None (but need to meet the requirements for your secondary master)
Turael point boosting is one of the fastest ways to build up a large point bank. The idea is simple: complete Turael's quick and easy tasks to rapidly progress your Slayer streak, then switch to a higher-point Slayer master for your milestone task.
This method is all about Slayer points, not XP. You'll sacrifice a significant amount of Slayer XP per hour compared with using Duradel or another high-level master, but you'll reach your milestone rewards much faster. I don’t want to overcomplicate this, so I will explain it in simple terms.
A typical setup is:
1. Complete 9 quick Turael tasks (you gain zero points for this part)
2. Complete your 10th task at a higher point Slayer master (usually Konar/Duradel to net 75/90 points)
3. Repeat the process
You will gain even more points at your 50th/100th/250th/1000th tasks.Gamer note: All masters now have separate block lists. This means you can fill up a block list at Turael so you avoid any tasks you don’t like there, then still have your block list at Konar/Duradel to avoid those bad tasks too.
The tasks you want to block for your Turael Block List are:
Wolves
Lizards
Dogs
Everything past that point is just preference (and depends a lot on teleports you have available and the stage of your account).
If you need a large number of points for Slayer unlocks, task extensions, blocks or skips, Turael boosting can save you a huge amount of time. Once you've built up enough points, return to your normal Slayer master and get back to the XP grind.
In short: Turael boosting = much higher Slayer points/hour, but much lower Slayer XP/hour.
Gamer note: Krystilia uses a different task streak to all other masters, so this point boosting method cannot be used with her.
Best for:
Solely points
Want 99 Slayer ASAP? → Duradel/Kuradel
Want the most Slayer points? → Krystilia (or Turael boost method)
Want Brimstone Keys & Hydra (GP)? → Konar
Want general Slayer XP and boss tasks? → Duradel/Kuradel
Want a hybrid master with some risk for higher reward? → Krystilia
Want an Imbued Heart/Superior uniques? → Mortimer
The biggest thing to remember is that the "best" Slayer master depends on your goal. A master that produces the best theoretical XP isn't the best choice if you're trying to make GP, farm points or hunt a specific drop. That's why experienced players often rotate between masters rather than sticking with one forever.
Hopefully this guide helped you understand which master to use for whatever you’re currently grinding. Happy Slayin’!
