Fairytale I – Growing Pains is the follow-up to Lost City and takes you straight into Zanaris, the fairies’ realm and Gielinor’s moon. The quest is all about helping the Fairy Queen deal with a pesky tanglefoot and figuring out why the Fairy Godfather shows up in her place. It’s also a really nice way for newer players to get started with Farming thanks to the XP bonus you get.

Walkthrough of Fairytale i - Growing Pains
Recommended: Amulet of glory
- Teleport with the amulet of glory to Draynor Village or run there then talk to Martin shown below and pick dialogue options 2, 1, 1 to start the quest. Heads up—you don’t want to pickpocket Martin during the quest, or you won’t be able to chat with him for 10 minutes in-game.

Talking to the farmers
Next, you’ll need to talk to 5 farmers to gather information and then head back to Martin in Draynor Village to tell him what you got. Here’s a list of the closest ones I recommend:
- Frizzy in Port Sarim – reply 1 (check image above)
- Elstan northwest of Draynor – reply 1 (check image above)
- Heskel in Falador Park – teleport to Falador to get there faster (check image below)

- Treznor south of Varrock Castle. shown below Use Varrock teleport to get here quicker. Reply 1.
- Dreven south of Varrock, next to the Champions' Guild shown below). Use Chronicle to get here quickly.

- Teleport back to Draynor village with the amulet of glory and return to Martin in the Draynor Market and select 2 during the dialogue.
Entering Zanaris
Bring: Lunar or Dramen staff
Recommended: Falador teleport
- Equip the Dramen staff and open the shed south of Lumbridge to travel to Zanaris.

- Talk to Zandar in the Dark Wizards' Tower west of Falador. Climb up the stairs twice to get to him.

- Talk to Malignius Mortifer west of Port Sarim with Draynor skull in your inventory. Reply 2. Take note of the items Mortifier tells you get. Check OSRS wiki to find the best ways to obtain any of the possible items he requests.

Blessing the Secateur
Bring: 1 Ghostspeak amulet, 1 secateurs, and the 3 items Mortifier told you to get
Recommended: Salve graveyard and some food to prevent damage from Ghasts.
- Enter the Grotto in the south of Mort Myre shown below. Use the Salve graveyard to get closer to this location.

- Wear the Ghostspeak amulet and talk to the Nature Spirit. He will bless your Secateurs, which will then glow green and turn into the magic secateurs.
Bring: 1 Dramen staff and 1 Magic secateurs (this is the only weapon that can damage Tanglefoot).
Recommended: If you don’t plan to flinch the Tanglefoot, I recommend wearing full adamant armor or better to help tank hits with lots of food or just use Protect from melee. The fight would take a while since the Secateur is not a great weapon. If you plan to flinch him instead, you can get away with lighter armor, bring less food, and focus more on offensive gear like an Amulet of Glory or Fury and a Combat Bracelet.
- Travel to Zanaris by entering the shed south of Lumbridge with your Dramen staff equipped, then get ready for the fight with the west bank if you have not done that.
- Run through the south tunnel to get to Tanglefoot. Inside the tunnel, you’ll run into a few baby tanglefoot (level 45). Keep going to the end of the tunnel to face the level 111 Tanglefoot in the location shown below.
- If you don’t want to flinch, just attack him and eat or use Protect from melee.

To Flinch the Tanglefoot, attack and lure it to the exact spot shown below, making sure you’re standing in the position shown as well. Hit it once, then step back to that spot and wait for its health bar to disappear before attacking again—otherwise, it’ll hit you back and deal damage. Continue till it is dead. This method will take longer than taking him head on.

- After defeating Tanglefoot, he’ll drop the Queen Secateur. Pick it up, then talk to the Fairy Godfather while carrying them to finish the quest.
