Walkthrough of Gertrude's cat

  • Put all the items you need in your inventory when starting then talk to Gertrude, south of Cook's guild. She will tell you about her lost cat, Fluffs. Reply 1 to start the quest.

location of Gertrude

  • Before leaving, go behind Gertrude's house and pick up Doogle leaves from the floor and use them on the sardine to get seasoned sardine if you don't already have one.

  • Ensure you bring 100 coins from a bank then go to the Varrock Square. Talk to Wilough or Shilop there and reply 2, 2 during the dialogue. They will tell you about their secret playground after you pay them 100 coins.

  • You need to bring a raw sardine, a doogle leaf, and a bucket of milk then go to the Lumberyard, north east of Varrock. Normal accounts can purchase a Lumberyard teleport from grand exchange to get here quicker. When you get there, climb over the broken fence into the Lumberyard, and walk north to climb up the ladder highlighted below to find Gertrude's cat, Fluffs.

  • First, try to pick Fluffs up and she will hiss at you. Use a bucket of milk and seasoned fish on Fluffs but still, you won't be able to pick her up since her Kittens are still in the area.

  • Climb down stairs and search every crate there till you find a kitten. Searching the same crate twice will not work. Despite the "mew!" appearing on different crates, the Kittens position remains stationary. If the kitten does not appear in your inventory after you find it, log out and log back in to trigger the event. Make sure you don't drop the kitten as you have to find it in those crates again. When you get the kitten, climb back up and use the kitten on Fluffs.

  • Finally, return to Gertrude to complete the quest.

Tip: If you wear a Ring of Charos (a) before talking to Gertrude at the end of the quest, you’ll be able to choose your kitten’s colour as a reward.

Reward from Gertrude's Cat

Ironman tip: Save the chocolate cake reward for A Tail of Two Cats and the stew for The Queen of Thieves quest. Also, you should start raising your kitten since a full grown cat is required for Evil Dave subquest of recipe for disaster.
