Cook’s Assistant is one of the easiest quests in Old School RuneScape. It’s usually the first quest new players complete, and it takes only a few minutes. Your entire job is to help the Lumbridge Chef gather three basic ingredients. No combat, no requirements, and you don’t even have to leave Lumbridge.
For normal accounts, this quest can be finished in under a minute if you already have the items. Ironman will take about 2–3 minutes because they must gather everything themselves.
General Questing Tips

You need only three items:
Total cost: 3 GP to buy the pot and bucket from the Lumbridge General Store (ironman only). Eggs are free from the Lumbridge farm.
If you’re on a regular account, just buy the three required items from the Grand Exchange, walk to the Cook inside Lumbridge Castle, and finish the quest instantly. That’s it.
Ironman should follow the guide below.
Go to the cow field northeast of Lumbridge.
Use your bucket on a dairy cow to get a bucket of milk.
If it’s your first time, talk to Gillian Groats for a quick explanation.
Walk to the farmhouse north of the river (next to the cows). Eggs spawn on the ground—grab one.

Go back to the Cook in Lumbridge Castle with your:
Talk to him → Select 1, then 1 to finish instantly.
