OSRS Cook's Assistant Quest Guide

OSRS Cook's Assistant Quest Guide

Cook's Assistant is one of the first quests ever added to OSRS, and it's super easy. All you have to do is bring three items to the Chef in Lumbridge. There are no requirements, and everything you need--including the quest itself--is in Lumbridge. You can finish the whole thing without leaving there. It takes roughly 3 minutes to complete if you are an ironman since you have to obtain all required items. Normal accounts can complete this quest within a minute.

Item Requirements for Cook's Assistant

  • Egg
  • Pot of Flour
  • Bucket of Milk

You only need about 3GP to buy pot and bucket to get pot of flour and bucket of milk respectively. Eggs can be picked up in the Lumbridge farm.

General Questing recommendations: Enable RuneLite Quest Helper in your RuneLite plugin section, hold your space bar to skip through NPC dialog, and use number keys for chatting dialog.

Regular Accounts Guide For Cook's Assistant

Normal accounts can purchase the above required items from the Grand Exchange and talk to the Chef in Lumbridge Castle to complete the quest in seconds. Ironman must obtain required items from the locations shown below.

  • Start by obtaining a bucket and a pot. You can buy both from the Lumbridge General Store, north of Lumbridge Castle, for a total of 3 GP. Alternatively, you can pick up a free bucket from the castle cellar and a pot from the kitchen table.

  • Next, head to the cow field northeast of Lumbridge. Use your bucket on a dairy cow to collect a bucket of milk. While you’re here, pick up an egg from the nearby farmhouse north of the river. If you’re unsure how to milk cows, you can speak to Gillian Groats in the same field for a quick explanation.

Making Pot of flour

  • To get the pot of flour, pick some wheat from the field north of Lumbridge, then enter the windmill to the west. Climb to the top floor and place the wheat in the hopper. Pull the lever, then return to the ground floor and use your pot on the flour bin to collect the flour.  Optionally, you can talk to Millie Miller for instructions on how to make a pot of flour

  • 1 Quest Point
  • 300 Cooking XP

Completing this quest unlocks the cook's range in the Lumbridge kitchen which has lower burning rate. Some good next quests to do are Sheep Shearer, Imp Catcher, and Romeo & Juliet, as they are quick, provide useful early-game rewards, and are required to do some other quests in the game.
