OSRS Prince Ali Rescue Quest Guide: Ironman-Friendly

Prince Ali Rescue is a classic early-game quest that unlocks free access through the Al Kharid gate, saving you the 10-coin toll forever. The quest has no skill or quest requirements, and it’s one of the fastest early quests you can finish.

Item Requirements for Prince Ali Rescue

You need the following items:

• Soft clay
• 3 balls of wool
• Yellow dye or 2 onions
• Redberries
• Ashes
• Bucket/jug of water (obtainable during the quest)
• Pot of flour
• Bronze bar
• Pink skirt
• 3 beers
• Rope

How ironman Can Get All Items Quickly

At first glance, this quest may seem to require a lot of items, especially for Ironman accounts. The good news is that all of them are quite easy to obtain:

• Soft clay: Buy a bucket, fill it with water, then mine clay south-west of Varrock. Use the bucket of water on the clay.

• Balls of wool: Shear sheep near Farmer Fred and spin the wool at the Lumbridge Castle spinning wheel.

• Yellow dye: Grab 2 onions (spawn upstairs in the Lumbridge general store) and 5 coins, then give them to Aggie in Draynor.

• Redberries: Buy from the Port Sarim Food Store for 3 coins.

• Ashes: Simply burn any log.

• Bucket of water: Fill a bucket at any sink, fountain, or tap.

• Pot + Pot of flour: Buy a pot in Lumbridge, collect wheat north of Lumbridge, grind it at the mill, then fill the pot on the ground floor.

• Bronze bar: Smelt 1 copper ore and 1 tin ore.

• Pink skirt: Purchase from Thessalia in Varrock for 2 coins.

• Beers: Buy from the Blue Moon Inn in Varrock.

• Rope: Buy from Ned in Draynor for 18 coins or give him 4 balls of wool.

Tip: Start with all required and recommended items in your inventory to avoid going to the bank during the quest.

Start the Quest

• Starting at Lumbridge, run east through the Toll gate and head to Al Kharid Palace or teleport there directly using the Amulet of glory. Speak to Hassan (options 1 → 1). He sends you to Osman, just north of the palace. Check out the map below to see the starting location of the quest, as well as the other locations that we need to go to during the quest. 

All locations of NPCs in this quest have been added in the map below.

Meet Leela

• Osman tells you to speak to his daughter, Leela, east of Draynor Village near the wheat field. Use an Amulet of Glory to teleport to Draynor if you have one. Otherwise, run back through Lumbridge to get to her. Ask her about the key, disguise, and game plan.

Make the Wig + Rope

• Go west to Ned’s house in Draynor shown in image above. Dialogue: 1 → 2 → 1 to get the wig made. If you still need rope, buy it from Ned or let him craft one for you.
• Use your yellow dye on the wig to create a yellow wig.

Get the Disguise Paste from Aggie

• Head north to Aggie’s house shown in the map above. Ask her to make the paste (options 3 → 1). She will the following to make it: Redberries, Ashes, Flour, and Water
• If you didn’t bring yellow dye, she can also make it for 5 coins + 2 onions.

Make the Key Print

• Go to the jail east of Draynor. Watch for guards if you’re under level 53.
• Talk to Lady Keli on the east side of the jail as shown in the map above and choose: 1 → 1 → 2 → 1 → 1.This lets you make a key print in soft clay.
• Return to Osman with: Bronze bar and 20 coins
   

He has the real key made and sends it to Leela.

Saving Prince Ali (The Fun Part)

Bring these items with you: 3 beers, a rope, a pink skirt, a yellow wig, and some paste.

• Start by talking to Leela to get the key — she’ll only hand it over once your wig has been dyed yellow, so make sure that’s done first.
• Next, head to the jail and give him all three beers until he’s properly drunk.
• After that, use the rope on Lady Keli to tie her up.
• Use the key on the cell door to free Prince Ali and let him escape.
• Finally, talk to Prince Ali and he will disguise himself using the pink skirt, yellow wig, and paste, then make his escape right away

• Once he’s gone, head back to Hassan in Al Kharid Palace to wrap up the quest.

Congratulations! You have completed the Prince Ali Rescue quest.

Rewards from Prince Ali Rescue

• 3 Quest Points
• 700 coins
• Free use of the Al Kharid Toll Gate
• (Members) Access to the Sorceress’s Garden Thieving minigame.
• (Members) Ability to use the window shortcut behind Al Kharid Palace (requires 70 Agility).

Finishing the quest removes the 10-coin toll permanently, making travel between Lumbridge and Al Kharid much faster and cheaper. This quest also unlocks future quests like Contact!, so it’s worth doing early.
