OSRS Monk's Friend Quest Guide: Beginner-friendly

Monk's Friend is a short and easy quest where you help Brother Omad retrieve a child’s blanket and assist Brother Cedric.

General Questing Tips

• Enable RuneLite Quest Helper for guidance.
• Hold the spacebar to skip NPC dialogue.
• Use number keys to select chat options.
   

Time to Complete: The quest took me about 3 minutes to complete.

Item Requirements

• Jug of water: Can be bought from a general store or obtained from water sources. It can also be gotten from the cooking shop in Yanille or the general store in Port Khazard. Imps near Port Khazard may also drop a jug.
• Logs or plank: Regular logs, obtained from cutting trees. Planks can be collected from Port Khazard near the bank chest.

Normal accounts should just buy these items from the grand exchange.

Skill Requirements: None

Recommendations

• Ardougne teleport, Ardougne cloak, or 30 GP to take boat from Rimmington to Ardougne
• 1 Stamina potion

Walkthrough

Starting the Quest

• Teleport to Ardougne or take a boat there then head south and talk Brother Omad in the Monastery south of West Ardougne shown in the map below. 

• Select chat options 1, 1. Omad asks you to retrieve a child’s blanket from some thieves.
   

Retrieving the Child’s Blanket

• Climb down the big ladder shown the image above into the dungeon.

• Grab the child’s blanket from the table in the southern room (check the image for reference).

• If your combat level is low, watch out for the two level-14 Thieves and the level-26 Head Thief.
• Once you’ve got the blanket, take it back to Brother Omad and choose dialogue options 1 → 2.

Helping Brother Cedric

• Leave the monastery and head north to find Brother Cedric south of the Ardougne Zoo’s camel enclosure indicated by quest icon below

• Talk to him and use a jug of water to help sober him up.
• Give him some regular logs or a plank to fix his cart.
• Quick tip: before leaving Omad, make sure you select the dialogue option “Where should I look?”—otherwise Cedric won’t sober up properly.

Finishing the Quest

• Return to Brother Omad, who will start a celebration party.

Rewards from Monk's Friend

• 1 Quest Point
• 2,000 Woodcutting XP
• 8 Law Runes
• Brother Omad will throw parties for you when spoken to after completing the quest.
   

In just a few minutes, you can earn 1 Quest Point and 2,000 Woodcutting XP, taking you from level 1 to level 13 woodcutting. You will also receive 8 Law Runes, which are especially useful for ironman as they can be used for early teleportation, saving time.
